Virtualisation introduces a new category of capabilities to the data centre, enabling business to reduce their IT costs through increased efficiency, flexibility and responsiveness.
VMware, an EMC company, was founded in 1998 to bring mainframe-class Virtualisation technology to industry-standard computers.
VMware has always remained the industry leader in Virtualisation technology and continues to lead the field with its Workstation, ACE, GSX and ESX Server products.
By partnering with VMware, Challow is able to bring all the cost saving, performance increases and increased computing flexibility that virtualisation tools provide. Although a relatively new concept in the SME sector, server virtualisation is ideally suited to this sector. Challow looks to VMware to provide server consolidation and rationalisation of server in a market where cost reduction is critical.
VMware delivered its first product, VMware Workstation, in 1999 and entered the server market in 2001 with VMware GSX Server and VMware ESX Server. With the launch of VMware VirtualCenter in 2003, and the groundbreaking VMotion technology, the company established itself as the thought leader in the newly emerging virtual infrastructure marketplace.
In 2004, the company extended the capabilities of virtual infrastructure to the enterprise desktop with the introduction of VMware ACE.
